Top 10 Tips for Planning Your Wedding During Quarantine

June 8, 2020

We know that the impact of COVID-19 has greatly affected every industry across the globe. You may be navigating some unprecedented waters in terms of your career, family, and home life right now, all in the midst of planning your dream wedding. At Diana Pires Events, we want to offer some helpful tips and guidelines to assist you during this time.

If you are in the middle of planning your big day, here are some tips to keep in mind as you continue planning:

TIP #1 – Virtual Appointments

You can continue to meet virtually with your vendors using a variety of online applications and websites to chat about your details. Check out Zoom Chat, Skype, or Facetime for a few great options to try for your next vendor meeting. Many vendors are quickly adapting to this virtual climate and can offer you virtual dress try-ons, floral consultations, and much more! Don’t be afraid to ask your planner to reach out to your vendors for you to arrange these accommodations for you.

Tip #2 – Specialty Appointments

For specialty appointments, such as your meal tasting, cake tasting, and floral sample meeting (just to name a few), you can work directly with your vendor (or planner) to arrange for special arrangements to keep you on track. For example, perhaps delivery or curbside pickup can be arranged for the above, paired with a virtual consultation with the vendor as you try everything and give your feedback. Don’t be afraid to get creative during this time to continue to make your planning process fun and exciting!

Tip #3 – Don’t Delay

We know you might not feel like moving forward with your planning during this time, and you might want to put your planning on pause in the meantime, but we cannot stress this enough- Don’t! You don’t want to fall behind in your planning and be stressed later on when you have a lot to catch up on in a short time. Your planner will work with you to let you know your timelines and how much flexibility you have in terms of your deadlines for booking vendors. We don’t want you to miss out on the opportunity to book your dream team because meetings were delayed past your deadlines.

Tip #4 – Keep Positive

It can be really easy to give into the gloomy feeling that seems to surround us during this difficult time of COVID-19, but here is your little reminder to smile! Remember: You have been looking forward to your wedding day for so long and it is going to be everything you dreamed of! In no time at all, you will be marrying your life partner and celebrating with all of your family and friends. Weddings are such a beautiful and joyous occasion and we don’t want you to lose sight of that. Keep positive and let the excitement for your wedding be a light to cheer you up whenever you’re feeling blue.

Tip #5 – Stay Home & Stay Safe

We know how hard it is to stay inside- especially as the weather begins to warm up- but it is so crucial to do so to keep yourself and your loved ones safe & healthy. Use this time at home to get ahead on your planning, find some awe-worthy inspo, or learn a new hobby!

Tip #6 – Do Some Online Shopping

Let’s face it- the temptation of online shopping has been whispering in your ear since you’ve been home- are we right? Why not use this time to shop around for your day-of accessories such as hangers, robes, jewelry trays, or even other items such as guest favours, or bridal party and parent gifts? This way, you won’t be stressed about these important details later on.

Tip #7 – Stay Connected with the Experts

A great way to keep connected with your vendors and learn some new tips while you’re home is through social media and webinars. Pop onto your favourite experts’ live chats and panels, tune into their podcasts, and read up on their blogs to gain some new insight you can put to use for your planning. Some great options we recommend are the VIP Collective Podcast (brought to you by Corinne Mcdonald Films) and our very own Planning Circle on Instagram Live with Diana Pires of the DPE Team!

Tip #8 – Stay Connected With Your Squad

It’s important to keep connected with your loved ones during this time. Make a virtual date with your squad at least once a week or so to check in and hang out. Some great apps you can use to connect include Skype, Facetime, Whatsapp, Zoom, and Houseparty among many more.

Tip # 9 – Focus on the Fun Stuff

This is a great time to focus on all the details that get you excited about planning your wedding- whether that means making a new Pinterest board to pin decor or bouquet inspiration, browsing your favourite dress designers’ newest collections online, or making a Spotify Playlist for your “Must Play” favourites.

Tip #10 – Kiss The One You Love

The best tip of all.
